Wedding hair is a very popular topic; I will be adding more hair stories soon but you may want to check out www.bride.ca. The news and ideas section of their site has lots of great articles on hair, accessories and loads of pictures too!

I agree with your analysis of wedding trends and going away from 'big' and turning to 'clean lines' and elegance...or should I say a modern elegance. Love the thoughts your posting as well as the images. Keep it up!

Both the restaurant and the Great Hall are beautiful facilities for wedding receptions. The Great Hall has lots of natural light and since it's such a large open space, you can decorate to your heart's content to make the venue exactly as you want it. Having said that however, I should add that it is not a fully stocked banquet space, as is the restaurant, which means that everything has to be brought in, including the tables and chairs. Although I don't know what the rental rate is for either space at the Law Courts, I would imagine the Great Hall would get pricey and more involved since more items have to be rented and brought in. As a vendor, I have often found the logistics of working at the Law Courts somewhat difficult. Even though the staff there is friendly and very helpful, all vendors must be brought up by a service elevator, often escorted by security. Plus, we often have to wait in line depending on how many vendors are there bringing in their supplies for the event. For this reason, you should verify that the companies you do hire to decorate etc. are familiar with the routine and the time restrictions involved with bringing supplies into the facility and ensure that they allow ample time to get everything done. I once had the unfortunate experience of being stuck behind the rental company that was bringing in the tables, chairs, glasses etc. It took us forever to get in!!!
The restaurant, on the other hand, has a more intimate feel. It is a warm and inviting space that doesn't require a lot of additional decor. It has a nice view of some downtown buildings {plus there is a great water feature}. The patio is a real bonus for guests wanting to mingle outdoors during the warmer months.
{Note: consider including a little note with the invitations that alerts guests to the fact that there is ample underground parking at the facility so that they needn't worry about having to look for parking downtown..... }
I have only been there once as a guest many years ago; I really couldn't comment on the quality of the food. I don't remember having any complaints though.
I hope this helps! All the best to you both!

We're considering the Law Courts Inn as a venue for our wedding reception... Could you give us any insight on the quality of the food and the ambiance of the place??

Thanks!

I LOVE your blog. I am a huge Martha Stewart Fan (who isn't in the wedding industry?). I enjoy following your articles and suggestions of web sites to visit.

Aboslutely...love all that natural light and modern feel of the space! There are lots more venues to discuss; so, there will definitely be a follow up blog story coming up soon. If you have any other favourites, let me know...I love the input!
Thanks Daniel
